Bio
Patsy McGregor Sadowski has taught singing privately since 1994 to students age 9 through adult in a variety of styles, including musical theatre, contemporary, and classical. Her students have been offered college and university scholarships, and have appeared in professional, semi-professional and amateur theatre productions. Many have won places in Texas’s prestigious High School All-Region and All-State Choirs, and have competed at the state level in UIL Solo Contest.
Currently, Patsy teaches voice privately. She is the founder of The Workshop for Singers, a studio focusing on vocal technique for contemporary singing using Somatic Voicework®The LoVetri Method, as well as traditional vocal technique. Mrs. Sadowski is holds the highest level of certification in Somatic Voicework®, and she continues to work with New York teacher Jeanette LoVetri, founder of Somatic Voicework® . She is a member of the Brookhaven College Arts Academy faculty, and she is a section leader/soloist at North Park Presbyterian Church.
In 2008, Patsy’s interest in helping her students to be better performers led her to work as musical director for theater productions. She served as Musical Director and arranger for MBS Productions world premiere, The Lovers, a play with music from the 11th through the 15th centuries. Rover Dramawerks tapped her to serve as Musical Director for the regional premiere of Gilligan’s Island: the Musical.
Patsy has performed professionally in the Dallas area with the Incarnation Choral Society, the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, North Park Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church of Frisco, and the Helios ensemble. She has taught voice at Eastfield College and has served on the faculty at Collin County Community College. She also has taught private voice lessons for the school districts in Frisco, Coppell, Allen, and McKinney, Texas.
Patsy holds a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, where she studied with internationally known singers, voice teachers and authors Joan Wall and Lanelle Blanton. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from West Texas A & M University. She has done additional graduate work in vocal pedagogy at Shenandoah University, and in other fields at the Anglican School of Theology and at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Patsy is committed to continuing education, and she regularly attends professional workshops and symposia . Since 2004, she has attended the Institute for Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy each summer at Shenandoah University, where she earned her certifications in Somatic Voicework® The LoVetri Method. She has also attended workshops in The Alexander Technique, in musical theatre sponsored by the prestigious University of Miami School of Music, workshops and master classes sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and master classes taught by Paul Sperry, Mary Saunders, Seth Riggs, William Riley, and Shirlee Emmons. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Music Teachers National Association, Plano Music Teachers Association, Frisco Music Teachers Association (past president) and Texas Music Educators Association.
